Canine Freestyle is a choreographed performance organized with music, illustrating the training and joyful relationship of a dog and handler team. Freestyle is an excellent discipline which illustrates the conformation and movement of the dog. The reach, drive and beauty of an athletic, trained dog moving to music can take one's breath away. Freestyle training also enhances other activities in which you and your dog participate. Whether it be agility, Rally or simply playing a fast game of fetch-the-ball. Jo Gaebel has been doing Freestyle for 15 years and is currently teaching at Masterpeace Dog Training Center in Franklin, MA and Concord Dog Training Club in Concord, MA. Jo and her plucky Cairn terriers ('Jessi,' 'Jamie,' and beloved and very much missed "Kayla') have done demos throughout New England and have been featured in The Boston Globe and on all three Boston TV stations.
Participants will learn basic freestyle moves and how to put them to music - actually choreographing a routine with the new moves. For those who have had some Freestyle training, Jo will make the basic moves a bit more challenging. Attendees need to bring a crate, leash, lots of treats, clicker (if you use one) and chair (if you wish). Dogs must have basic obedience training and be comfortable (and manageable) on leash amongst other dogs. Lunch will be on your own.
Seminar registration fee is $60 per team. In order to ensure that individual attention can be given, registration is limited to 12 teams. Registrations will be taken in the order in which they are rec'd.
