Jo Gaebel

I was introduced to Freestyle at a Camp I attended 14 years ago and have been hooked ever since.  Beginning in 1995, my Cairn Terrier, Cala and I have done demonstrations and competitions.  I started with her in competition obedience and I soon realized that Freestyle helped her obedience performances.  We traveled all of New England and surrounding States to participate in various Freestyle events and demonstrations—even on television

Cala is now over the Rainbow Bridge but I am still dancing with Cairn Terriers!  Now I have Jessi who is four years old and has been doing demos since she was six months old, and Jamie who is all puppy.  He will do his first demonstration at four months of age in August.

When Donna Duford left Massachusetts, I started teaching in earnest, and I am now traveling New England doing clinics.  In 2004 I formed a freestyle team in Massachusetts called The New England Wagtime Dancers.  This was my dream for quite a while and what a joy for me to see it come to fruition.

I believe with all my heart that our four-footed friends, no matter whether they are pure-bred or mixed, make us smile, help us get through the rough spots, and enrich out lives.  I could not imagine my life without music or my canine buddies.
