Emily PyleEmily is from Houston, Texas and has been performing and dog training since 2003. Emily teaches freestyle and rally obedience classes at Happy Hounds in Houston, Texas. She’s also a judge for MDSA. Emily stumbled into freestyle when her miniature dachshund, Henrietta was seven months old. An obedience instructor suggested freestyle as a way to improve focus and attention, release all that energy and generally just keep the nosey pup out of trouble in a small apartment. Emily reluctantly (very reluctantly) gave it a try, and was subsequently completely and totally hooked on the sport. Since then, the team has performed at a variety of local events in Texas, including the annual Reliant Park Series of Dog Shows sponsored by Animal Planet and most recently the State Fair of Texas. They’ve also performed for local television programs as well as national appearances on the Martha Stewart Show, Good Morning America and Animal Planet. Emily has also started playing freestyle with her two newest additions - Olivia and Little Miss Sunshine. Both girls are very “un-border collie” border collies and both were adopted from Border Collie Rescue, Texas. Working with three different dogs, each with completely different personalities, styles, skills and strengths has truly been a quite a freestyle challenge! Emily also competes in agility and rally obedience with her dogs. However, she loves freestyle the best because of the sport’s endless training challenges, the unlimited creative potential, the fact that any dog can participate (big, small, young, old, mixed, purebred, athletic or not) and it just plain makes both you and your dog happy.
